DANCE GEMS CODE OF CONDUCT

For all students, parents and guardians – expectations in respect of students admitted to Dance Gems.

The aim of Dance Gems is ensure that all students experience dance in a fun, friendly, positive and safe environment.  To achieve this, please take note of the following guidelines:

Any student unable or unwilling to benefit from the education provided at the school may be asked to withdraw from the school after reasonable notice.

• Rules and Regulations

Client incidents

Aggressive, abusive, or anti-social behaviour is not tolerated from clients, visitors or students at any time, whether towards staff, visitors or other customers or students.  Please behave appropriately, respecting staff, visitors and peers.  Adhere to Dance Gems policies at all times.  Any incidents must be reported and will be investigated by Dance Gems.

Any client incident reported to management may result in the client’s account being suspended, and the possibility of being expelled from the dance school.  Serious incidents may result in immediate withdrawal from the dance school.

Punctuality

It is vital that students arrive in good time, to enable classes to commence on time.  Aim to arrive 5 – 10 minutes before the start time of the class to ensure you are warmed up, changed into the appropriate clothes/shoes and ready to start on time.  Those arriving late for the start of class may miss important information and arriving late may disrupt the lesson, distracting the learning of others.  Admittance after the class has begun is at the teacher’s discretion.

Attendance

Regular attendance is important. If students do not attend on a regular basis, then the development of all the class members not only the individual student will be affected.  Students who fail attendance will be monitored as they prepare for their examinations and assessments, and those who fail to attend classes and additional classes may be asked to withdraw and excluded from examination entry or performances.  We regret that it is not possible to make up for missed classes by attending another class in which you are not registered.

Discipline

Pupils are expected to behave in an orderly, civilised, and well-mannered way, and to show respect to their teachers, assistants and other students when attending Dance Gems.  Failure to comply with the rules and regulations may result in withdrawal.  Bullying is not tolerated at Dance Gems.

Uniform

It is extremely important that students arrive dressed and ready for class in full Dance Gems uniform to be able to work correctly and safely in class and to present a clean, neat appearance. If hair length permits it should be in a neatly tied bun for those identifying as female, or tied back for those identifying as male.  We ask that all students make a concerted effort to come to class wearing a bun or headband/gel to control shorter hair.

Changing

Should there be a need to change clothing after arrival parents/guardians/carers of children 4 years and younger or children, who still require assistance getting out of their clothing should remain nearby and be contactable during the activity in case their child requires assistance.  Dance Gems staff will assist the student in locating their parent/guardian/carer and directing them to the nearest changing facility.

Students will only be changed in their designated changing areas in the presence of another teacher, and never alone with one adult.

Mobile phones

The use of mobile phones in the changing areas and studios is strictly prohibited.

Drop off/collection

Parents and guardians are asked to drop off students directly before the start of their class and to supervise them until their class time.  Late collections may incur a fee of £30 per 15 minutes of supervised delay.

Personal property

Clothing should be labelled with the owner’s name. Students should make sure that they always keep their valuable personal items with them.  Dance Gems cannot be held responsible if items go missing.

Fees

As per our terms and conditions, fees must be paid before the first class of each term.  Failure to do so may result in withdrawal from classes/examinations.

Examinations

ISTD, RAD and Trinity examinations are offered.  Examination entries are at the discretion of the Director and may be held at a different venue on a date that is not during the usual class time.  Exam fees are charged in addition to the class fess and will be separately invoiced.  Missed examinations may incur an additional administration fee and exam fees are not refundable.
